An elderly dog receives an extreme, life-saving makeover!
Someone found a little puppy laying on the lawn – motionless – and they decided to call San Jose Animal Care & Services. An Animal Services Officer responded to the call and found the puppy as it had been described. The officer transported the puppy back to the San Jose Animal Care Center and informed the shelter’s veterinary staff about the lethargic puppy.
The veterinary staff was initially concerned that the puppy may have parvo because she was so lethargic. Fortunately, a quick test ruled that out.
The puppy was examined more closely to better understand why she was in such poor condition. It was discovered that the left side of her face was swollen, there was hemorrhage where the white part of the left eye is. The puppy also had a wound on the inside of her mouth, likely from biting her cheek. All of these signs indicated the puppy had sustained trauma to her head.
The puppy was started on a treatment plan, and within no time, she was bouncing around like a normal puppy. She would have gone up for adoption, but a rescue group fell in love with her (who could blame them?!) and took over her care until she could find a home.
