An elderly dog receives an extreme, life-saving makeover!
No one knew how this little kitten obtained a laceration in her axilla. What we did know was that she never received veterinary care for it as it was infected with the hair on her right front leg caked with pus.

The kitten wasn’t overly friendly when she came to the shelter, and in fact, she was rather timid and even fearful at times. Fortunately, the shelter was patient with her. The veterinary team started the kitten on her way to recovery by providing her with medication that would help her wound heal. The shelter staff patiently worked with the kitten to show her that people can be wonderful sources of love and companionship.
Given that her wound was located in her axilla where there is a lot of movement in the skin, her wound healed over the course of a few weeks.
First the pus dried up and healthy granulation tissue started to form.
Ultimately the wound closed, and the missing hair would eventually grow back with time.
Not only did a few weeks at the shelter give the kitten some time to recover, it also helped her warm up people and become less timid around them. After the wound fully healed, the kitten was spayed and placed up for adoption at the San Jose Animal Care Center, and it was no surprise that she quickly found her forever home.
